Best iPad Apps for Toddlers 1
The iPadManiac is proud father of a 11 month old baby girl. And as a true daughter-of-a-geek, she is already playing with the iPad. So much indeed that she protests loudly if daddy maniac dares to use it for his own entertainment!
Obviously 1-2 years is an age where other things are much more interesting than an iPad (thank goodness), so there are not that many good apps for toddlers our there. Here are the little maniac’s favorites:
I Hear Ewe – Animal Sounds for Toddlers

This app is our favorite right now, used at least once a day, usually right after the dead-tree animals book. It’s magically simple to use, has great drawings, plays sounds – and it’s free. As an added plus, the app says the animal names in one of four languages (English, Spanish, German or Chinese).

If you have a toddler, get this app. Beware that after that the iPad is not yours any longer.
Get it from the App Store.
Animal Fun

This is a nice alternative to I Hear Ewe because this app shows actual photos, not drawings. However, the app feels unpolished, with scaled up photos of low quality. At least it’s free.

There is lots of room to improve the app, but it’s good enough for showing to your toddler at least once.
Get it from the App Store.
Bubbles

Okay, $0.99 for – bubbles? Well, I guess even old fashioned soap bubbles cost almost that much. And this app is definitely fun for both adults and toddlers.
What does Bubbles do? Touch to create bubbles. Touch bubbles to pop. Rinse and repeat.
