Three Eco-Friendly Accessories for Your iPad 2 2
These days, everyone wants to be eco-friendly. From the tree hugger stickers to the reusable bags, people are showing their green nature. Now the green craze has reached the iPad hemisphere. Here are three eco-friendly accessories I recommend for the iPad 2.
ColcaSac
ColcaSac makes “naturally protective” sleeves for the iPad. Each sleeve has a velcro closure to keep your iPad from falling out and a front pocket to store accessories. The ColcaSac features a plush interior made out of wool that looks very soft, so you don’t have to worry about the sleeve scratching your device. Plus, a portion of your purchase goes to the Save the Waves Coalition and 1% For the Planet. ColcaSac iPad sleeves cost $35-40. Link
Treegloo
Treegloo specializes in moleskin-type iPad cases. Each case can be fully customized, so you can choose everything from the cover color to the method in which the case closes.
Almost every component of the Treegloo case is eco-friendly:
- Paper Liner- Treegloo lets customers choose between a cloth or paper liner. The paper liner is certified by Green Seal, the Forest Stewardship Council, and Carbon Neutral Plus.
- Frame- The wooden frame is made out of pine grown in the US to reduce energy needed to produce and transport it. It is also made out of four pieces of wood instead of one piece since is reduces waste.
- Adhesive- The adhesive used by Treegloo are made in the US and safer for the environment.
- Cover- The cover is made out of faux leather that is animal-friendly and UV resistant.
Treegloo cases cost $35+. Link
Grove
Grove produces high quality iPad cases, covers, and skins. Their iPad cases have a bamboo shell and a natural leather cover. Each leather cover folds like a Smart Cover, wakes/sleeps your iPad, and is laser engraved with design from the gallery or customer’s design. Plus, the vegetable tanned leather is sewn at Grove headquarters and comes in black and London tan. The iPad 2 case retails for $99+.
If you like the leather cover but don’t want the bamboo back, Grove offers the iPad 2 cover separately. It can be engraved with a pre-set design or you can create your own design. This cover works just like the Smart Cover. The iPad 2 cover costs $69+.
Grove also offers bamboo skins for the back of your iPad. They stick on easily and can be engraved as well. The bamboo skin costs $19+. Link
Looking at these accessories, hopefully you found an ec0-friendly solution to suit your needs. So be sure to check out their sites, and support going green!

After much research I decided to order a cover for my IPad 2. I choose to go with Treegloo Products. They stated it was 2-4 weeks on their website. I placed my order and paid on May 4th. My confirmation email on my order from Treegloo Products thanked me for my order and also stated that my order would ship within 2-4 weeks. So 2 weeks from that date would be May 18th. I am not one of those people that start calling and bothering a company at the 2 week point. The 4 week point would be June 1st. I emailed Treegloo products than and ask for an update on my order. They emailed me back and stated that my cover would ship between June 7-8th. Will the evening of the 8th had come and I had not heard back so once again I emailed them. They emailed me back and apologized and said they would expedite my shipping when my order was shipping. They stated that my order would ship between June 16-18th. This is now 6 ½ weeks from my order that was suppose to ship in 2-4 weeks. Will it is now June 20th and I still do not have a product or shipping information. I emailed Treegloo and asked for a full refund due to their lack of ability to supply my order in a timely manner, based on their delivery dates. I was ok waiting their initial 2-4 weeks but I am not willing to wait any longer. The responded with “Your book and frame is complete and is pending final assembly. Your case will be shipping out as expected.” I do not know what they mean by expected. I expected this by June 1st. They still have not supplied me with any shipping information. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I would highly recommend ordering from someone anyone else.
@steven,
Thanks for the comment. I too ordered from Treegloo, but I ordered on April 1st. My case came six weeks later, but it was broken, so I am currently awaiting a return label. It appears that the companies that are hand making the cases (Treegloo, Portenzo, etc) are having trouble with the large influx of orders while the companies who are mass producing them (Dodocase, Pad and Quill, etc) are fairing well. Seeing that Treegloo is a small company, they are probably struggling to fulfill all the orders. If you didn’t want to wait, I would suggest getting a case from a large company like Belkin, Marware, Speck, etc.
